Faculty of Medicine
Hello, my name is Mehmet Doğuhan Çoşlu, I am a 6th year Faculty of Medicine student at Yuksek Ihtisas University. I am an intern doctor. I began my studies in 2015, I am one of the first students of our university. I have been in the Faculty of Medicine for 6 years. In the first three years we were in Balgat Campus. We have continued with our studies in the hospital for the last three years. Our hospital is located in Batikent. We received theoretical training in the first three years, and for the next three years the clinic proportion of our programme was more intensive. We also had the chance to receive training in the biochemistry, anatomy and microbiology laboratories to support the theoretical training we received in the first 3 years. In the 6th year of our education in the medical faculty we work as interns and we carry out all types of clinical applications. The sixth year is the year in which we are solely interns and carry out the most practice. I am currently an intern. We become general practitioners when we graduate. We can specialize if we like. I, like many of my friends, am currently studying for the specialty exam. I wanted to choose a field in which I would be communicating with people. I had many fields in my mind that I could choose from. In the end I decided that the faculty of medicine would be the best choice for me and I have never regretted my decision. The fact that our university is located in our capital city Ankara and that our staff members consist of experienced lecturers with a strong academic background played a big role in my decision to study in Yuksek Ihtisas University. Our campus has developed a lot physically over time. We are situated in a large area. We have some opportunities that other medical faculties don’t have. For example, the cadaver we studied in the anatomy laboratory lesson during our theoretical year has been a great advantage for us. There are also social opportunities which our university offers us. The leading one being the student clubs. We have a gold membership in the Turkish Medical Students' Association. Those who are studying in the medical faculty would know about this. Having a gold membership is a great advantage as it provides the opportunity to go abroad and socialize with other faculties. As I mentioned earlier, I am currently studying for the specialty exam. Although my score will be the deciding factor, I think I will enjoy specializing in one of the surgical fields. I am sure candidate students will do lengthy research before coming here, so that is why I talked about the advantages. I hope things will go swimmingly for you. We would be delighted to see you all among us. I wish you lots of luck in your exams.
