I am Professor Tuncer Asunakutlu. I am the Vice Rector of İzmir Bakırçay University. I am the coordinator for the International Relations and Exchange Programs. Izmir Bakırçay University International Relations and Exchange Programs Coordinatorship was established in 2018. Our university is a new university. We are a part international projects and operations. We mainly send our students, academic staff and administrative staff to overseas programs within the scope of Erasmus + programs, and we accept international students to our university in return. I would like to express that I would be very pleased to host these international students at our university as our guests. İzmir is a port city, it is the third largest metropolis of the country and is developing at a very rapid pace. Therefore, I would like to state that there are great opportunities in terms of living conditions for international students. National laws and regulations are valid for the admission of international students to our university. The foreign student examination is organized by the central authorities. As a university, we plan to admit our students to a short- or long-term program with an exam. If they meet the requirements, we have the opportunity to host students from all over the world at our university. First of all, our international students can study in Turkish in all the units of our university. Any student can apply for our university, provided they meet the requirements. We have two programs in English: The International Business Program and Management Information Systems Program. Besides these programs, the education language of our programs is Turkish. However, we have a language center at our university. We support our foreign students' Turkish language studies, help them complete their training and accept them into our programs. Mevlana, Farabi and Erasmus + programs are programs developed for universities. Our International Relations and Exchange Programs Coordinator is also responsible for these three programs. Our university has signed mutual agreements with 13 universities within the scope of the Erasmus + program. We have an agreement framework that addresses a total of 33 students and 44 academic staff. However, our university is in the process of making more agreements in the medium and long term and continues to sign agreements with various countries. Our vision is to ensure that all students studying at our university have a wide range of international relations experience. Besides 13 universities, we are on the verge of making bilateral agreements with various countries and we plan to send our students to many universities. The education programs at our university are included in the European credit transfer system as a part of the Bologna process. All of our curriculum is prepared in accordance with European standards and our students receive education within the scope of AKTS, in accordance with the Bologna process. Therefore, the education they receive is up to the European standards. Thanks to the special regulations of each country, the diplomas we produce are valid there. We, too, are constantly updating our educational contents in order to provide our students with the necessary skills for the international arena. We try to provide them the content that modern education necessitates.
İzmir Bakırçay University is a new university. Despite this, it has largely completed constructing its technical and physical infrastructure. We have a wide variety of facilities to offer our students on campus. We have all kinds of facilities and events, from sports halls to a comprehensive library, from social events to cultural activities. In terms of cafés and accommodation for our students, we have many places on campus. There is a wide range of accommodation opportunities, studio apartments which are close by, thanks to the location of the campus. There are private and public dormitories within close distance around the university. We have 8 separate suites on campus that allow us to host foreign faculty members. Therefore, our university can provide the necessary social and physical benefits for our national and international students. Thanks to the Erasmus + program, we have signed various agreements with countries such as Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Romania, Latvia and Serbia and have gained the right to send our students to these countries. In order to benefit from the Erasmus + program, we expect you to improve your foreign language skills and to be successful in your courses. Our university provides our students a fair selection process. Each of our students can go abroad to gain international experience within the scope of this program and can very well add this as a plus to their resume. Students who benefit from international exchange programs gain great advantages in their careers. International experience and international maturity increase our students' global employability. Therefore, we recommend that you take advantage of our university's exchange programs in order to gain experience abroad and to go to various countries within these programs and receive education and learn about culture.
