Health Management

Hello, I am Associate Professor Aysu Zekioğlu. I am the head of the Department of Health Management at Trakya University. Our department aims to train professional health managers needed for the effective and efficient delivery of health services. The Department of Health Management is a multidisciplinary field of science that includes both management and Health Sciences. There are general courses such as general business, economics, management-organization, health information, medical terminology in the 1st and 2nd grades of our department. In the 3rd and 4th grades, our curriculum includes non-field electives and departmental electives. Our students choose the courses they want from the departmental elective course pool, which includes various courses according to their interests. In the 4th grade, our students take an application course for two and a half days a week at Trakya University Health Application and Research Center. Thanks to this course, they have the chance to practice the theoretical content they have acquired throughout their undergraduate education. In our department, we have 1 seminar room suitable for the use of our students. In the 4th grade, our students take an application course at Trakya University Health Application and Research Center. Within the scope of this course, they have the chance to gain experience in polyclinics, clinics and technical units, especially in administrative units. Our students prepare an internship report within the scope of the practice course and our evaluations are made on this report. Faculty members of the Health Management Department attach great importance to our students' in abroad experiences. In this context, international mobility of our students who have achieved language proficiency is encouraged through the Erasmus Office of the Trakya University Foreign Relations Center. Currently, our department has an Erasmus Agreement with 4 different universities in Bulgaria. There is a Health Management Community formed by the students of our department. This community organizes various activities, especially introductory meetings, every semester. In addition, various meetings and group interviews are held in order to learn about the professional life experiences of health managers working in the sector. Graduates of the Department of Health Management can work in different areas in the health sector, especially in public and private hospitals. Pharmaceutical companies and medical equipment companies also appear as areas where they can work. Since the Department of Health Management trains professional managers for hospitals, it is very important to develop the communication skills of the candidates who will choose our department. In addition, it is recommended that they give importance to foreign language education and have at least one foreign language proficiency. Edirne, the capital of the Ottoman Empire, is a city that smells of culture and history.
