Labor Economics and Industrial Relations
Hello, my name is Mevsim Çağla Cengiz. I am a research assistant at Trakya University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations. Working life is an important part of our daily life. In this context, the main purpose of our department is to examine the working life from the economic, sociological, legal and psychological aspects. Therefore, our department ensures that the need for qualified human resources in this field is met. There are 4 main disciplines in our department: Labor Economics, Management and Labor Sociology, Management and Labor Psychology, Labor and Social Security Law. The basic courses of our department are Labor Economics, Social Policy, Individual Labor Law, Collective Labor Law, Labor Sociology, Labor Psychology and Human Resources. In addition to these, elective courses such as professional English, working relations and art are given to our students by the professors of our department. In addition, our students can also take department courses related to other fields such as Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, and Statistics. Students who have completed their 7th semester can spend their final years in internship training in the private or public sector, provided that the conditions are met. Labor Economics and Industrial Relations Congress is held at different universities every year on behalf of our department. There are various conferences organized by our faculty members in our department. The students of our department can be employed as experts or inspectors in various institutions and organizations, especially by the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Family and Social Services. In addition, our students can be employed in various departments, especially in the human resources department, in trade unions and various non-governmental organizations, in various banks and insurance institutions in the private sector. Today, foreign language knowledge has an important place both in working life and in following up-to-date information on any field. Therefore, giving importance to foreign language knowledge should be among the main objectives of our department's students. In addition, they need to give importance to their personal development in order to become a useful individual for the society. Edirne, which was the capital of the Ottoman Empire for 88 years, is home to many historical and cultural heritages. Our university, which is very close to Bulgaria and Greece, has a cosmopolitan structure. Therefore, the number of international students is quite high. This provides our students with the opportunity to get to know different cultures closely. I wish good luck to the students who will take the exam.
