Mevlana Exchange Program

I am Professor Engin Can. I am the Institutional Coordinator of Mevlana Exchange Program of our university. At the same time, I attend the mathematics class as a faculty member in the Faculty of Technology, Department of Engineering Basic Sciences. Mevlana Exchange Program is an exchange program organized and financed by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). It progresses within the framework of the protocols that our universities have made with universities abroad. Sending and receiving students and academic staff depend on each other. Our academic staff who want to go should develop Mevlana Projects additionally. But the dates for submitting those are possible during certain periods determined by YÖK. Application to Mevlana Exchange Program is possible with 2.50 GPA for our undergraduate students and it is required 3.00 GPA for master and doctorate. In order for our students to benefit from the Mevlana Exchange Program, they must have documents showing their English level in addition to their grade point averages. Our students can benefit from the exchange program when they document them with the exams of YÖK or the documents given from the private courses they have taken. The important thing here is that the counter institution also accepts these documents. Since the number of students coming to us with the Mevlana Exchange Program is higher, we try to find suitable places in the Credit Dormitories Institution or private dormitories by using the initiative for our students who come within the framework of bilateral protocols. Therefore, they too try to help our students who are sent to their universities. As for the grants paid in the Mevlana Exchange Program, these are not like those in Erasmus. In Erasmus, the grants are divided into two groups, but in Mevlana, there is a very different picture for both our students and academicians, which is determined by YÖK, and, varies from country to country. Our students receive minimum of 1200 TL support for now. This may increase in the future.
