Faculty of Sports Sciences

I am Professor Nevzat Mirzeoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences. At the same time, I run the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching. Our faculty has 4 departments and 4 programs. These are: the Coaching Education Department, Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department, Recreation Department and Sports Management Department. Undergraduate and graduate programs are available in these 4 departments. Doctoral programs are also carried out in all 4 departments. Our faculty is located in the central campus of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences, in Esentepe. Our facilities are located on our central campus. Therefore, these facilities include the stadium building we are in, athletics track and also a football field. Lines and rules regarding American football on the field are also included in the system. Apart from that, we have two separate halls, A and B Halls. These are gyms with large multi-purpose training areas. In this stadium building, there are dance halls, wrestling halls, etc. We have separate halls for gymnastics and other sports. There are also classrooms and study rooms. There are also classrooms for as billiards and foosball. In our other hall buildings, there are changing rooms, showers etc. related to the hall. Along with the fields, our teachers have working areas and offices. We have laboratory facilities in Hall A. We have an Exercise and Sport Sciences Education Research and Application Center established under our faculty. There are laboratories and management offices for this center. In our hall (which is our main building), there are offices for the staff, our classrooms, separate halls for karate and combat sports and archery, and a multi-purpose sports hall where sports such as basketball, volleyball and indoor football can be performed.
Sakarya is at the center of very important metropolises such as Ankara, Istanbul and Izmit. In this respect, it has a very important advantage. At the same time, Sakarya is a city that offers very fast and easy transportation facilities. When we think of the investments made in Sakarya, as a student city with more than ninety thousand students, it provides great convenience and advantages to the student. It is a city that has very important advantages in terms of accommodation and social life. In this respect, Sakarya University of Applied Sciences is very advantageous. Thanks to the 7 + 1 system our university offers, we are the only sports faculty that provides work experience for the students in Turkey. In 3 of our 4 departments, we have implemented the 7 + 1 system this year. Thus, we offer our students the opportunity of gaining work experience. We provide a significant advantage with student quotas offered in the sector. Students who study here have the chance to study whilst pursuing a career in sports. We have 4 Turkey Olympics Preparation Centres, which makes Sakarya an important hotspot for successful athletes. Candidates who will choose us will find the chance to realize and express themselves here. Above all, apart from Olympic sports, they will find the chance to train themselves in one or more of the aquatic sports and nature sports. As we emphasize the importance of practice, students will receive a 1-term full-time training at the workplace and gain work experience and have the opportunity to be employed in places where they gain experience. Thanks to this system, which has been implemented the first time here, students will graduate with work experience.
