Instıtute of Graduate Programs
Hello people, my name is Zafer Tatlı. I am the Director of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Graduate Education Institute. Our Graduate Education Institute is located in Serdivan, within the main campus of Sakarya University of Applied Sciences. In our institute, we have Technology, Agriculture, Tourism, Applied Sciences and Health Sciences faculties and various branches of science in the institute departments. We have 22 graduate departments and 12 doctoral programs. As an interdisciplinary program, we have Mechatronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering departments. In our graduate programs, evening education and distance education without thesis are also available. For detailed information, you can visit our university's web page. We attach great importance to the education of our international students at our institute. That's why we have various international partnership protocols. We ask our international students to provide Turkish B2 level certificates and a GPA of 2.5 out of 4 as a condition of admission to our institute. They can attend classes with B2 level, but we also expect them to graduate with C1 level Turkish. This means that they will complete their undergraduate education that they started with a B2 level of as C1 level student. We have a language education center at our university for students whose language level is not sufficient. Our students can also get their language education there. Our university, as its name suggests, is a university of applied sciences and attaches importance to applied education. Our university has implemented the applied +1 education model for the first time among state universities, and it successfully carries out this system. Let me explain this system. The students spend a part of their term in the sector and learn the job on site. As the Institute, we are implementing this practice, which our university successfully carries out, in the form of “+1” Institute. To achieve this, we first created a Business Experience Master's and Doctorate program. Here, if our students working in the sector, graduate or doctorate candidates present their work to our institute as a project, we approve them after passing them through our authorized institutions, and if our students present these projects to us in a thesis format, we give them their master's and doctoral degrees. Of course, students are required to carry out these procedures within the framework determined by YÖK (Council of Higher Education).
Another application of ours is our course titled Research in the Sector course. If all of our students who work in the sector or who have applied to us take this course, we consider the work they do throughout the day in the R&D (research and development) centers in the sector as a course. With the work they do in the industry, they learn on-site, gain experience from there or contribute to the companies there through their academic advisors at the university. As a graduate education institute, we produce 2 projects within the framework of school-industry cooperation. These projects are what we call the TÜBİTAK 2244 Industry Doctorate Program. One of these projects is carried out by the firm OPTİMAK (Optimum Process Design and Applications Industry and Trade co. ltd.) which is based in our location, and the other is carried out by the Federal Electric Investment and Trade inc. We collaborate with our project partners on this project. Currently, 4 scholarship students are working on these projects. Our students receive TUBITAK scholarships from here for 4 years, which includes their doctorate period. At the same time, they have to be employed here for 3 years after the initial 4 years. Therefore, our students work for this project and complete their doctorate education at the same time. We accept our student's admissions within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK (Council of Higher Education). For the master's degree program, we require at least 55 points from ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam). For a doctorate, a minimum of 65 ALES and 55 language points must be obtained. We aim to open new departments in our institute in the coming period. These will be programs such as Computer Engineering, Physiotherapy, Health Management, Field Crops, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. Our advice to our future students is to begin their studies at the undergraduate level in order to pursue graduate studies. English should not be a problem for them anymore. We strongly recommend that they do extra readings about their areas of interest. In the undergraduate period, if they apply for projects such as graduation studies or TÜBİTAK, they will prepare themselves for graduate education in the fields they want to improve. I wish success to our students who will choose Sakarya University of Applied Sciences Graduate Education Institute and I would like to state that we will be happy to see you all among us.
