Faculty of Pharmacy

I am Ayça Çevikelli Yakut. I am working as a research assistant at Trakya University, Faculty of Pharmacy. Our faculty aims to train pharmacists who can take responsibility in all stages from the production to the use of the drug and contribute to the field. In our faculty, pharmacists are trained in international standards. At the Faculty of Pharmacy, our students take courses from Basic Pharmacy Sciences, Pharmacy Vocational Sciences and Pharmacy Technology. In the first years of their undergraduate education, our students take basic courses such as Pharmaceutical Botany and Analytical Chemistry. In the following years, our students take courses such as Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Pharmacology. In addition, courses such as Pharmacy Technology are also offered. Laboratories have a very important place in pharmacy education. Our students reinforce the knowledge they have learned in their theoretical lessons with experiments they conduct in the laboratories. We have laboratories equipped with the latest technology in our new building, which is built in 2019. Our students do internships in regular and hospital pharmacies. In addition, our students can do internships in the pharmaceutical industry, pharmaceutical and research laboratories, Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency or similar institutions abroad. In the last year of their undergraduate education, our students prepare a graduation project on the subjects they choose according to their interests. Within the scope of student and internship mobility in our faculty, our students are provided with the opportunity of internship and education abroad. In addition, students have the opportunity of Mevlana and Farabi exchange programs for abroad and domestic universities respectively. Balkan Pharmacy Student Congress is organized by the students of our faculty, where pharmacy students, pharmacists and academicians come together on scientific platforms. After graduating from our faculty, our students can work in community pharmacies, hospital pharmacies, pharmaceutical warehouses, pharmaceutical industry, cosmetics industry, Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency, Social Security Institution, and Forensic Medicine Institutions. The courses offered at the Faculty of Pharmacy are based on Chemistry and Biology courses. Multi-disciplinary education is given in the Faculty of Pharmacy. It is very important for our prospective students who will choose the Faculty of Pharmacy to be interested in working in laboratories and in the field of health. Trakya University supports many student societies as well as academic programs. Student societies allow students to develop both professionally and socially. For example, Rational Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Society and Pharmacy Students' Association, founded by the students of our faculty, are actively continuing their activities. There are also many social opportunities at Trakya University. Sports facilities are provided to our students. There are also social activities such as concerts. Edirne, known as the student city, provides students with a comfortable and safe environment both on and off campus. Our students can easily find accommodation in the dormitories on the Balkan Campus, which also includes the Faculty of Pharmacy of Trakya University. In addition, in the life center located on the same campus, our students can easily meet all their needs such as food and beverage, stationery, market, bank, and pharmacy, without leaving the campus.
