Audiology

Hello dear students, I am Associate Professor Erdoğan Bulut. I am the Head of the Audiology Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Trakya University. Our department started to admit students for the first time in the 2017-2018 academic year. In the 2021-2022 academic year, it will give its first graduates. In our department, education is given within the scope of the national core education program in audiology, and along with basic medicine and professional introductory courses in the first year. The field of diagnostic audiology is introduced in the 2nd year and the field of rehabilitative audiology is being covered during the 3rd year. In the 4th year, the courses are more clinically focused. Our first laboratory is a pre-clinical. This laboratory has been prepared for preclinical students with the aim of transforming their theoretical knowledge into practical skills under our supervision before their professional careers start. Our second laboratory is located in the International Hearing Studies Research Center. Here, too, we are working on experimental audiology. We also develop diagnostic kits and tests for hearing loss for various pathophysiological conditions. In addition, our faculty members in both special education and audiology continue their studies for special rehabilitative purposes at Armağan Dönertaş Handicapped Children Education and Rehabilitation Application and Research Center within our university. Also, Thrace technology transfer office within our university serves students on a project basis. In order to bring innovative approaches to our students in the 4th grade, we offer project-based approaches both within internship and seminar courses. Erasmus studies continue in our department and we provide reference and support to our students in any university abroad within the scope of internship mobility. Our department held the Hearing Aids and Implants Congress in 2019 at the Balkan Congress Center. In 2020, an international hearing studies and research Symposium was organized to explore innovative approaches and innovative aspects in the field. Graduates of our department can work at universities, private public hospitals, private rehabilitation centers, private branch centers, hearing aid companies, cochlear implant companies, and Provincial Health Directorates. I recommend students who will choose our department to take their studies seriously and to pursue innovative approaches. Dear students, Trakya University is a big family.
