Interior Architecture

Hello, I am Bülent Ayberk. I am the head of the Department of Interior Architecture. The main purpose of the Department of Interior Architecture is to design the right spaces for people to live in, taking the cultural needs of people into account. Our department is located within the Faculty of Architecture in Macedonia Campus. The main course of interior design discipline is the Interior Architecture Project course. Apart from this, other courses in our program are given to support and strengthen general skills of the students. For example, among these, the fine construction course helps our students to engage with all the details during the production of the space. Apart from this, our other courses are given with the aim of providing the necessary knowledge for project presentations. Among them, there are courses such as Basic Design, fine construction, furniture design, environmental design and law, as well as courses such as surveying and restoration. As Trakya University Department of Interior Architecture, we are well aware that we are located at the westernmost tip of Turkey. We are also aware that we are in the middle of the cultural network that connects Europe to our country. For this reason, as faculty members of the Department of Interior Architecture, we attach great importance to participating in private international symposiums and workshops. There are many fields for our students who graduated from the department of interior architecture to work in. They can work in interior architecture offices, as well as in the boat manufacturing business, the aircraft aviation business or the defense industry. However, there is a huge gap in the digital game industry, which is especially developing today. It is very clear that interior architects will find a place to work in these areas due to the design needs of these areas. I believe that the candidates who will prefer our department should firstly examine the city they will come to study. Because one of the main factors that makes a functioning university is the city. Adopting the culture of the city is very important for a student studying design. However, making at least a very general examination of what interior architecture is will be a preliminary preparation for what kind of education this department provides and on what basic principles it does this. Trakya University primarily teaches what it means to live in a historical city for our fellow students from outside the city. One of the main problems of our students, especially those who receive education in design, is not being able to experience the right space. In this regard, the building stock and various types of buildings that our city offers in abundance enable our students to see and experience these places in order to be inspired for the designs they will work on.
