Hello, I am İlayda Koçak. I am a 3rd year student at Trakya University, Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry. Our department is located in the Balkan Campus. Our department has been accredited since 2017. The aim of our department is to train competent chemists in their fields. In our department, we take Physics, Chemistry and Biology courses, which are our basic courses since the first year. Starting from the 2nd year, we take Biochemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry courses, which are the main subjects of the chemistry discipline. In addition to 5 main basic sciences, our department also has their laboratories. In addition to these, we also have an industrial chemistry laboratory and instrumental analysis laboratories. There is a compulsory laboratory internship for 20 working days in our department. We can do this internship starting from the 2nd grade. In the last year, we had an experimental thesis that we worked on. I would like to talk about an award that I received this year as part of the Organic Chemistry course. Professor Doctor Muvaffak Seyhan Organic Chemistry Awards are given to the student with the highest grade point average in organic chemistry and related courses. It has become a tradition in our department for 28 years. After graduation, we can work in many fields such as textile, food, medicine, leather industry, glass, ceramics, detergent or oil industry. We can also teach at schools by taking pedagogical formation. Since I was little, I was always interested in basic sciences, I was curious about drugs and their effects, and I also wanted to make my own cosmetic products. I chose the Department of Chemistry because I thought this could be possible with a chemistry education. Since Edirne is a comfortable and quiet student city, I wanted to study here. Also, I chose this place because Trakya University Chemistry Department is an accredited department. After graduation, I plan to work in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. But first of all, I want to do a master's degree in order to further improve myself. If the candidates love chemistry and want to be a good chemist, they should choose the Department of Chemistry; If they want to study in a quiet but fun city and want to receive education from a good academic staff, I recommend them to choose Trakya University.
