Faculty of Dentistry

Hello, I am İrem Çetinkaya. I am a faculty member at Trakya University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics. Our faculty was established in 2011. In the 2015-2016 academic year, it started to accept its first students with the Exam organized by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). Last year we had our first graduates. We have foreign students. We also have quota opportunities for lateral transfer. The aim of our faculty is to train social physicians who are competent in their profession and have vision. The education of our faculty lasts for 5 years. In the first 3 years, theoretical training, medical training and vocational training on dentistry are given, while practical training is given on models that simulate the patient in pre-clinical laboratories. When our students pass to the 4th and 5th grades, they conduct practical training on the patients in our clinics. Dentistry education includes theoretical and practical training both for professional and medical education. While courses such as Histology, Embryology and Anatomy are given in basic medical education, we also provide applied courses such as Endodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Prosthesis in Dentistry. There is a pre-clinical laboratory and 2 internship clinics in our faculty. In pre-clinical laboratories, practical training is given on models that imitate patient jaws and teeth in the first 3 years. As of the 4th and 5th grades, our students receive internship training in our clinics. We offer our students internship opportunities within the faculty. Students who go to the clinics as observer students in the 3rd grade, complete their internships and end their education by receiving a practical training in terms of treatment of the patient in 4th and 5th grades. We offer our students abroad education opportunities with Erasmus, Farabi and Mevlana exchange programs. It is possible to go to around 150 countries with an exchange program and receive education there. Since our university is also a member of the Balkan Universities Association, it offers academic, scientific, social and cultural collaborations with universities in the Balkans and gives our students the chance to continue their education in those universities. National and international organizations and congresses are planned to be held in our faculty in the future. We offer our students the opportunity to work in public and private clinics after graduation. They can continue their working life as general practitioners in public oral and dental health centers or they can continue to treat with one or more physicians in private clinics. In addition, since 2011-2012, we offer the opportunity to attend the dentistry specialization training exam and receive specialization training in 8 branches here and continue their education in an academic sense. Dentistry education is an education that requires theoretical and practical effort, and the disciplined work is a must in this field. I recommend that the students who will come to our faculty to commit to ethical values and to be aware that professional human relations are very important, which should be paid attention to. I recommend that students who will choose our faculty to embrace ethical values , since human relations are very important in our profession. We offer different scholarship opportunities and accommodation opportunities to students who will prefer our university. We offer our students a 24/7 open library within our university. In addition, we offer students the opportunity to socialize with spring festivals and social activities held every year at our university. Edirne and Trakya University provide many accommodation and transportation opportunities for students who will choose this place.
