Hello, I am Dr. Şule Yılmaz Erten, Research Assistant at the Department of Architecture. It can be said that architecture is a profession where art meets technique and that this profession designs visual and functional elements in people's daily lives. In fact, architects observe and implement trajectories that determine behaviour in every aspect of our daily lives. Our department is located in the Macedonia Campus. Courses such as basic architectural projects, building application projects, urban planning projects, architectural history and restoration courses are given in our department. In addition, we support the basic education of students by giving various elective courses in the fields that students see themselves as close to them. In our department, we have workshops where we carry out our architectural projects. We also have a computer laboratory where programs that support the development of students’ visual reception are taught. We have a construction materials laboratory, where we introduce the materials used in the construction of buildings. A static laboratory is also present where we perform structural experiments. During our undergraduate education, our students have to do two internships in total, one of them is office internship and the other is construction site internship. Of course, they also need to successfully complete their graduation projects. Unlike other term projects, this project is a one that is carried out and presented by the students themselves. Abroad education opportunities offered to our students are quite extensive. We have Erasmus agreements with universities in various countries. Our students can also benefit from this opportunity if they meet the necessary conditions. With the International Architect Sinan Symposium, held every two years in our department, we host our guests from Turkey and abroad with different themes. Apart from this, we conduct workshops with domestic and foreign cooperation, and request seminars from companies in relevant fields. This is how we support our students in applying their theoretical knowledge to practice. After graduating from the department, our students have good technical equipment and design knowledge. Thanks to this, they have the opportunity to find employment in architectural offices in Turkey and abroad, and at the construction sites of these offices, in the field of visualization, in facade coating companies and in production of details. I would recommend our prospective students to make lots of sketches, participate in activities that will improve themselves in the visual field, and follow periodicals on architecture. Our university and department support our students in every field they need. There are private dormitories as well as dormitories of the Credits and Dormitories Institution for those who come from outside the city. I wish best of luck to candidates taking the exam.
