My name is David Muhavimpundu. I am studying at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Mechatronics Engineering. I’m a third year student. I came from Rwanda, a country in East Africa, in 2018. I've been here for about 4 years now. I chose to study here because a Turkish friend of mine from Tokat told me how beautiful Tokat is, how green it is, how hospitable its people are and said that studying in Tokat would be the right choice. So I decided to study here and added Tokat to my preferences list and came here. Before I came to Turkey, I had no knowledge of Turkish. I had no knowledge of Turkish culture either. People could be different, it would be very difficult to get used to, but I came anyway. I learned Turkish, but it was not easy. Still, after 7 months of preparatory training, I completed the B1 and B2 levels, and got a C1 certificate. The culture here is beautiful, the people are great and hospitable. I loved this place and it became like home for me. After I graduated from high school, I applied with a high school diploma. After that, I received an acceptance letter stating that I gained the right to study at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. Then I studied Turkish at TÖMER (Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center). I studied in Turkish preparation class for about 1 year, then I started receiving education in the department. After coming here, I tried to learn Turkish first. I learned Turkish. The food culture of Turks is different from ours. I tried the food and I loved it. I've never had any problems here. Even if I have problems, I think that the people around me or if they are available, my teachers will help me. I am very happy with the education provided here at Gaziosmanpaşa University. So far I've been really satisfied. Education, laboratory courses and research activities are quite satisfying, I am very satisfied with it. While studying here, I improved my skills in many subjects. My field is mechatronics engineering. I think that I have developed my knowledge on artificial intelligence. Also, I have made a lot of friends here, I participated in many activities. For example, the celebration of Nowruz was the first activity I attended at the university when I had newly arrived in Tokat. It was a very nice festival. In addition, I participated in many other activities such as course activities, school activities, football and basketball. I'm thinking of participating even more. I visited about 35-40 cities in Turkey. Tokat is very green, peaceful and the weather is nice. That's why I chose Tokat over other cities I've visited. I especially recommend Tokat to international students who will come to study in Turkey because Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University is a very good university. I recommend people to study here because of the quality of the teachers, the wide variety of activities and the hospitality of the people. I am currently studying for a bachelor's degree, but I want to do a master's. After graduating from here and getting a master's degree, I would like to go abroad and tell how beautiful Turkey is by making use of the education I received there in Turkey.
