Turkish Language Teaching Practice and Research Center

Hello dear students, I am Muhammet Avşar, Director of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER). Today, I would like to provide you information about Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center. Our center was opened in 2012 and it is currently continuing its training operations. The main purpose of our center is to teach Turkish and to introduce Turkish culture. Apart from these main purposes, it is also among the aims of our center to follow the developments in the world related to language teaching, to follow the applications and to conduct research. Our center also carries out joint studies in the teaching of Turkish and other languages by making bilateral agreements at the international and national level. Our center also organizes national or international courses, seminars, symposiums and similar events on the teaching of Turkish and other languages. One of the aims of our center is to prepare and publish materials related to the teaching of Turkish and other languages. Foreign students who have graduated from Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and anyone who wants to learn Turkish can receive education in our center. In our center, language education is given at basic level A1-A2, intermediate level B1-B2 and advanced level C1. Our students enrolled in our center receive training in 4 basic language skills: listening, comprehension, reading and writing. Language education at TÖMER is carried out according to the criteria of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students who complete the basic level A1-A2 and intermediate level B1-B2 are given a certificate of achievement, and those who complete the advanced level C1 level are given a Turkish Proficiency Certificate. Our international students can continue their studies at our university after completing the B2 level. Our graduate and doctoral students can continue their studies after the A2 level, provided that they submit their thesis in a language other than Turkish. Although we currently have students from about 40 countries in our center, there is an intense demand for international students from many different countries. In order to ensure the language development of our students, various social and cultural activities are also held in our center. Various activities such as historical and touristic trips, nature trips, music and entertainment programs are held in our center. With these activities, it is aimed to ensure the language development of our students and to ensure their social interaction with each other. Education at TÖMER is given by academicians who are experts in their fields, and modern education-teaching techniques and methods are successfully applied. Our academicians successfully apply modern education methods and techniques such as internet-supported education, mastery learning model, and individualized education. Our international students who gained the right to study at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University as well as all foreign citizens who request so can get Turkish training at our center. Our Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center is among the distinguished institutions in Turkey with its education quality and social and cultural activities.
