Hello dear students. I'm Assoc. Dr. Doğan Bozdoğan. I am a faculty member at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Finance. Also, besides this academic assignment, I am working as a director at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Career Application and Research Center. Our Career Application and Research Center is a unit established in July 2019. One of the most important characteristics of our Career Application and Research Center is that it is a unit that is directly affiliated to the Presidency. As you know, technological developments, globalization, and career planning have had great importance, and with this importance, the establishment of career centers in universities was essential. In our institution, which was established based on these ideals, we have provided training to nearly 8 thousand students as of 2021. Even though these trainings are certified trainings, they are completely in accordance with the training format followed by the private sector and demanded by the private sector. As I said, technological developments have shown that companies have started to emphasize that the current university degree is not enough, and that more practical diplomas and applied training are essential. This required the training of students who are needed in the market. In line with this necessity, we, as the Career Center, continue our activities as a unit that prepares students for the market and for companies. The ideal of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University is to be a university that creates its own employment. Therefore, the most important unit in this self-employed university format is our Career Center, in short, TOGU (Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University) KARMER. TOGU KARMER organizes all kinds of trainings for all our students, from health to social sciences, from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences to the Faculty of Law, both with certificates, activities and participation certificates. As you know, the importance of distance education has increased a lot in this period. The technological structure and globalization also brought distance education to the forefront. With this innovation, we have established a distance education system called the Career Education System and we provide this service to our students. Currently, we have around 35 thousand students. Based on our Career Education System, all of our 35 thousand students can attend various trainings and receive their certificates by coming here. We even provide them with the following advantage: We enable them to receive these certificates via e-government. Therefore, our students can have a priority position in the interviews conducted by the companies. This strengthens our belief that we make the greatest contribution to students. However, we, as Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Career Application and Research Center, are in direct contact with the Presidency and have an important place among the career centers in the Black Sea Region. We are attracting attention. In 2019, we have becomne the 20th university in Turkey that has given the most events and certificates in a period of 4-5 months. In addition, we have held approximately 120 events in 2021 so far, and we still continue to do so. The career center is not just a place focused on certified training. At the same time, we host important figures from the sectors, from the public sphere, and also important bureaucrats. We are currently in talks with many bureaucrats and many sector representatives and we have taken important steps to bring our students together with them. We aim to provide a benefit in terms of self-development by bringing our students together with them and providing them with different activity areas besides their theoretical courses. This is one of our most fundamental goals.
The Career Center has a system called Alumni Information System. When our students graduate, they register to this system and they share their information through it. If they are included in this system as an employer, they can post job-related advertisements for the students of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University and our university students can apply for these postings. In other words, our own university students can become employers for the students of their own university. Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Career Application and Research Center continues its activities with projects that are in line with its ideals, and thus creates its own employment opportunities. The Alumni Information System is one of the projects that we are proud of, as such a self-developing dynamic does not yet exist in Turkey. We know very well that the aim of students is to acquire a profession as soon as possible. This basic knowledge both obliges us to take very correct steps and also shows that we are taking the right steps. Therefore, we try to carry out and present our activities with students in the best way, together with elements such as the Alumni Information System and the Career Education System. First of all, when you gain the right to study at our university and then come to the Career Application and Research Center, you will be greeted with the following text at our entrance: "You are already one step ahead.". This is our main goal anyway; to always put you one step ahead. The most important feature of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University is its passion for its students. Maybe many universities have this, but I believe that our sincerity, the sincerity of our Career Center and the sincerity of our university offer something else. Because, as a Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University graduate, I fulfill this task with pleasure and I know the needs of students, which needs they are trying to fulfill or which occupational groups they want to focus on very well. When our students come here, this will be the first place they will visit and the place where they will stay until the end will be the Career Application and Research Center. At the same time, we employ very valuable and beautiful student friends in our Career Application and Research Center. Therefore, when students come here, they will see that they will be able to work here as well. Since our establishment, we have provided financial opportunities to our students, whom we employ as part-time workers, and we have been able to provide them with many certified trainings, and we are still employing and developing them as career representatives. All of our students who started to work with us in the 2nd or 3rd year of their undergraduate programs are currently continuing as graduate students. One of our students has already started to work as a lecturer. Because our main goal is not to make students study here and to teach them certain things here but to prepare them for the future. It is to ensure that they achieve their goals in the best way in their careers and take the right steps successfully. We believe that all students who will come to Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University will come to the Career Center first and will find a place for themselves in the Career Center, but this place will actually be a place where their dreams will come true and their dreams will become memories.
As the Career Application and Research Center, we have great professors who are career representatives in the faculty. We are not just a division which manages the Career Center from a single direction or from a single structure. At the same time, we also have teachers that we employ as career representatives in our faculties, vocational schools and even in our administrative units. Therefore, we have both lecturers and administrative staff. Therefore, after our students get in touch with our teachers, our teachers ensure that they can come here directly. I would also like to point out to the students that one of the biggest problems of the students is their ignorance about what kind of career they should have. This is very natural, we have all gone through this process. This is how we deal with this ignorance: we provide career counseling. You come to us, you somehow reach us through our phone numbers or social media accounts, you somehow contact us and we start to give you career counseling. We provide career counseling services to you, professionally, one-on-one with experts in the field, whichever career you want to pursue or if you have not chosen your career, whatever career is most suitable for you, and our professional instructor in the relevant field is with you until you get a job. Therefore, we would like to state that we are at your side with such a service. As the Career Application and Research Center, we can carry out all the necessary activities in our congress centers at our university. We provide face-to-face activities with our students, as well as online activities. We have live broadcasts and face-to-face events on Instagram. While doing this, we also follow a policy. Students who come to the Career Center and work in our center can perform all of these activities. When you contact us, you will now be able to reach many students as a part of the Career Center, and you can meet with students on platforms that can reach many people. You can meet and talk with industry representatives to organize the necessary events. In fact, we teach you the business in the field. Thus, we are trying to take your networks to the highest level possible. Many of our students have had succesful careers and came to very good places as a result of meeting with very valuable businessmen from here. We also promote their postings from the Instagram live broadcast accounts of the Career Center and other social media accounts. In fact, we are making your dreams come true and your dreams are so valuable to us! Therefore, when you give this opportunity, we see that we have brought you to very high positions and we are inevitably proud of ourselves. But our primary pride is you.
