My name is Abdoul-Aziz Salih. I am studying at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. I came to Turkey from Cameroon. I have been in Tokat for 2 years. I came to Turkey by taking the exam of this university. Before I came, I researched the university and the city. I chose this place because it is a beautiful, peaceful city, a green campus and a successful university. Before I came here, I was afraid of not getting used to it. Because it is a new country, a new city, a different culture with people I didn't know, but I came and I am very happy now. The people of Tokat are very friendly, compassionate and helpful. I no longer have any regrets. After I graduated from high school in Cameroon, I started to think about the future: I wonder how it would be if I went abroad and studied there? After that, I took the YÖS (Foreign Student Examination) of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. I got accepted to the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and came to Turkey, Tokat. Our teachers helped us a lot. So I started studying. After I came here, I thought that I should learn Turkish and I enrolled in TÖMER (Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center). I studied Turkish there and improved my language skills. I also improved my social skills by getting to know different cultures. When we came here, I had some difficulty in adapting, but TÖMER teachers helped us. Now I feel more comfortable and safe. I am very pleased with the education provided by our university. Our teachers are very successful in their fields. When I came to Turkey, my problem-solving skills and self-confidence increased. While I was studying at TÖMER, I participated in social and cultural activities. I participated in the Çanakkale program, 19th of May program, trips and similar activities. While studying in Turkey, I went to many cities and even stayed in a couple. I went to cities such as Adana, Izmir, Istanbul, and Ankara. Tokat is a much more comfortable and peaceful city compared to these cities. I recommend international students coming to Tokat to improve their Turkish language skills and to travel around Tokat a lot. I would love to live and stay in Turkey after graduating, but I want to contribute to my country with what I learned here. We welcome all international students to Tokat and our university.
