Vocational School of Justice
Hello my name is Burcu Kerim and I am a freshman student at Ufuk University, Vocational School of Justice. The Justice Programme is a two-year associate degree program that accepts students based on their Basic Proficiency Test score. It was established to train qualified judicial personnel. Our vocational school is located in the Dr. Rıdvan Ege İncek campus. In general, in addition to some law courses, we have practical courses such as Computer and Keyboard Applications, Information System of the National Judiciary Informatics System, Attorneys and Notaries, Forensic Correspondence and Applied Forensics Writing courses. In our laboratories, we have lessons on keyboarding and computer programmes. We can use our laboratories effectively after the end of class. There is no compulsory internship at the Vocational School of Justice. However, if we so wish, internship is available. When we graduate from this programme, we are able to work in justice courts related to executive offices, special office directorates, penitentiary institutions, editorial offices and clerks, on condition that we pass the Ministry of Justice exams. In addition, graduates of the Vocational School of Justice are preferred in the law firms of private institutions because of the increasing demand of Vocational School of Justice students in recent years.I understood why I chose the justice program much better in my first year here. This is because we are a state of law. I think everyone should study the Justice Programme. Secondly, the Justice Programme provides me with another opportunity—I can advance to the Faculty of Law provided that I pass the Vertical Transfer Exam. This is also one of my future goals. If I cannot achieve this goal, as a ‘B’ plan, I will work as a fully qualified personnel member when I finish the department.
We all benefit greatly from the facilities offered by Ufuk University. Particularly the communication with our academic staff is very easy. The same is true for the administrative staff. We have a Student Information System. With this system we can make our school registration without having to involve the administrative staff and we can choose our curriculum, learn our absences and do everything very easily. The library is very easy to use during exam periods. For 24 hours, the library is at your service and you can work comfortably. Our labs are the same. After the practical courses, the laboratories are open to us in order to consolidate and better understand the information we have acquired. One of my most important post-graduate goals is to be able to enter the Law Faculty with the Vertical Transfer Exam and then to advance in an academic career in the Faculty of Law. But in the case of ‘I couldn't make it, what can I do instead?’, there are many places to work as intermediate staff. I know that with the experiences I have gained in the program since the beginning of my first year, and with the knowledge I have gained through the practical lessons, I am confident I will have many employment opportunities in different institutions and private institutions, not only in the Faculty of Law. I've already included these fields in my goals. My first recommendation to candidates of Ufuk University and the Vocational School of Justice is that they come fully aware. I think one of the biggest differences of the Vocational School of Justice is that they provide a very serious education in legal issues. Secondly, there are many practical courses. You have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge given to you immediately and this opportunity gives you the knowledge and experience for your first work experience and this is very important for a graduate. Being at Ufuk University is a privilege but being a member of Ufuk University School of Justice is an even greater privilege. I wish every success to those candidates who choose Ufuk University Vocational School of Justice.
