Civil Engineering

Hello, my name is Abdullah Esat Hakan Durmazer. I am a 2nd year student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Civil Engineering. Civil Engineering is a fundamental engineering branch that deals with plans, projects, construction and inspection of structures by using materials and techniques in the best way possible. Our department is located in the Taşlıçiftlik Campus, which is the central campus of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. In our department, in addition to the fundamental courses, Drawing and Introduction to Engineering courses are given in the first year. In the 2nd and 3rd years, besides the basic engineering courses, elective courses are also given. Graduation work and courses in the fields of our choice are given in the 4th year. There are 2 laboratories in our department. One of them is building and building materials laboratory and the other is transportation and geotechnical laboratory. Experiments that civil engineers should know about are taught in these laboratories. In our department, there are two internship programs. One of these internships is undertaken in the 2nd grade and the other in the 3rd grade. In addition to these, a graduation project is required in order to graduate in the 4th grade. We are conducting research with our professors within the scope of this project. After graduating from our department, we can work as a civil engineer in all public institutions and organizations. Apart from this, we can establish our own businesses, in addition, we can provide consultancy and contracting services. I chose this department because many of my family members are engaged in construction work, and I think it interests me. While doing research on Civil Engineering after high school, I learned that there is a civil engineering department in my hometown, and I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University because I understood that it provided proper education. I think I will pursue a graduate education program to reach my goals.
