Elementary School Mathematics Teacher

Hello, my name is İsmet Enes Demirel. I am a 3rd year student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Elementary Mathematics Education. I work voluntarily in various institutions and non-governmental organizations such as Tokat Youth Center, Turkey Youth Foundation, Kızılay, TikDer (Traffic and Occupational Accident Victims Solidarity Association). Our department was established for middle school 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, to train qualified teachers who love their job and love to research, learn and teach. We usually divide our courses into two as education and field courses. Our education courses consist of many courses such as Introduction to Education, Educational Sociology, Educational Psychology. Our field courses consist of many field courses such as Abstract Mathematics, Fundamentals of Mathematics, Analysis 1. In addition, we have 27 different elective courses such as Micro Teaching, Human Relations and Communication, Economics and Entrepreneurship. There is one mathematics laboratory in our faculty. We can use this laboratory in our various field courses and group assignments. There are also 5 technology laboratories and drama classes in our faculty that we can use according to the content of our courses. We can also use these laboratories. In the second semester of the 2nd year of our department, we organize activities for the benefit of society by visiting various institutions and organizations within the scope of the Community Service Practices course. Likewise, we undertake internships in institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the School Experience and Teaching Practice courses in the 4th grade. We can teach mathematics in public and private institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. We can progress in the academic field by receiving further education. I chose my department because I love mathematics, learning, teaching and children. I had the opportunity to research and see many universities before and during the enrollment period. I had the opportunity to examine the academic articles and research published by the academic staff of the Department of Elementary Mathematics Education of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. Thus, I found out that the staff were very well-equipped. I also saw how vibrant and colorful the campus life is. After graduation, I plan to teach mathematics at secondary schools and apply my master's degree. I recommend the candidates who will choose our university to think about what they love and like before they choose this department. You can easily get in touch with the lecturers in our department and ask for any kind of information. There are many active clubs, such as the Young Red Crescent and Youth Office. I recommend you to participate in activities voluntarily and take advantage of the opportunities offered by our university. I wish success to all students who will take the exam.
