Department of Zootechnics

My name is Ceyhun Yücel. I am a student of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Zootechnics. Our department is located in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Taşlıçiftlik campus. In our department, scientific research which aims to contribute to the economical production of animal products such as meat, milk, wool, hair and leather are carried out. In our department, courses such as Ovine, Cattle Breeding, Animal Nutrition Physiology, Research, Trial Methods and Feed Technology are provided. In our 2 laboratories located in our department, chemical compositions of feed, raw materials used in animal nutrition, as well as fatty acid analyzes of meat, milk and feed are examined. In our department, there are 500 sheep, 2500 chickens, 5000 laying hens and a 1000 quail units. In these existing enterprises, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies are carried out. Undergraduate students studying in our department can do their 45-day internship training, which is obligatory after the 3rd grade, in the poultry unit of our department or in the livestock enterprises if they want. After graduating from our department as a zootechnist, it is possible to work in institutions and organizations affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, agricultural credit cooperatives, producer unions, private cattle and ovine facilities and integrated poultry facilities. Since I grew up as a child of a family that makes a living from animal husbandry, I chose the Department of Zootechnics in order to learn animal husbandry more scientifically and technically. Tokat's social and cultural heritage, friendly people, ease of life for students, as well as highly developed sheep and cattle breeding activities have been a factor in my decision to choose Gaziosmanpaşa University. After graduation, I want to develop my skills in the integrated sheep breeding facilities and use livestock loans to establish and manage a sheep breeding business. I recommend candidates who will come to our university to benefit from the cultural and social activities that Tokat offers them, and to develop themselves with regards to a foreign language and agricultural knowledge.
