Mechatronics Engineering

My name is Servet Kablan. I am a senior student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Mechatronics Engineering. There are 10 departments within the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. One of them is the Department of Mechatronics Engineering. Our department was established in 2009 and started providing education and training as of 2010. The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, where our department is located, is situated in Taşlıçiftlik Campus in the center of Tokat. Our department has a very comprehensive program. The subject matter of mechatronics engineering is connected to many fields, like machinery, IT, electronics. Courses such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, which form the basis of engineering in our department, are offered to our students starting from the first year. During the semester, our students continue receiving education with the main branches at our department. They take laboratory courses such as Circuit Analysis course, Power Electronics course, Robotics, Microprocessors. As of the 2nd grade, we have to take 6 separate laboratory courses in total. Courses on PLC (Programmable Logical Controller), microprocessors, robotics, SLS can be given as examples. In addition to our laboratory classrooms, there are also our project workshops. In these workshops, our students prepare for the competitions they will participate in or their studies for the projects they will do at the end of the year. We study for the TÜBİTAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) Electro-Mobile competition, TEKNOFEST Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Rocket competitions. A total of 40 working days internship program is compulsory in our department. The internships can be undertaken by our students abroad, and in the country, during the summer periods. We also have a Project course. In order to graduate, we present our studies for 4 years to our teachers in the form of an application. Graduates of our department can work in all sectors such as electrical-electronics and automation. At the same time, we can work as inspectors in elevator companies. I have been interested in mechanics and electronics since my secondary school years. In my high school years, I started studying this field. During this period, I got to learn about Mechatronics Engineering. During the time I had to choose a department, Mechatronics Engineering was just getting popular in our country. However, the departments were just starting to open. Our university was known for its laboratory facilities and projects. While Mechatronics Engineering was just developing in our country, it was already opened as a department in our university. For these reasons, I preferred Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Mechatronics Engineering. I'm thinking of doing a master's after graduation. I am currently an experimental trainer. I am currently a member of a team within Tokat Technopark. Thus, I intend to continue our R&D (research-development) studies in the workshops here as well in the next period. All students can choose the Department of Mechatronics Engineering. Our university offers many facilities such as libraries and laboratories. You can benefit from these facilities at our university.
