Department of Field Crops

Hello friends, I am Miraç Berre Balıkçı. I am from Kayseri. I am a 4th year student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Field Crops. Tokat Faculty of Agriculture was established in 1982 and started its education and research activities in 1983. There are 3 divisions in our department, these are Industrial Plants, Cereals and Edible Grain Legumes, Meadow Pasture Plants Cultivation and Breeding. Our department aims to teach how to deal with problems and to produce solutions by synthesizing collective knowledge. Our department aims to contribute to the country and world agriculture by producing knowledge at national and international level. In addition, many projects supported at national and international level are carried out in our department. In our department, courses are provided under the Departments of Industrial Plants, Cereals and Edible Grain Legumes, and Meadow Pasture Cultivation and Improvement. These courses are provided by our teachers who are experts in their fields. There are plant tissue culture and biotechnology laboratories in our department. There are also industry, forage crops and grain analysis laboratories which belong to the departments. In these laboratories, we carry out applications that reinforce our theoretical knowledge. We have a mandatory 45-day internship in our department. We carry out our internship in our greenhouses, fields and laboratories. When we graduate, we have the opportunity to work in a wide range of fields as an agricultural engineer in the provincial and district directorates of agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives and similar chambers. In addition to this, we can also pursue an academic career by completing our postgraduate education. I chose the Field Crops Department because I love soil and nature and I thought that I would provide a good future with the education I will receive. I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University because of its experienced academic staff, academic success and projects, as well as the fact that Tokat is a reliable and livable city for students. After graduating, I want to establish my own agricultural business in the light of the knowledge I will gain here and practice my profession. The campus of our university provides wide opportunities for all our students who want to improve themselves socially and culturally. You can also take advantage of these opportunities. In addition, we welcome all students who love nature, soil and production to the Field Crops Department. I wish good luck to all my friends who will take the exam.
