Molecular Biology and Genetics

Hello, I am Esra Kişioğlu, I’m a 4th year student at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. Our department was established in 2012 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and is located in the central campus of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Taşlıçiftlik. Our department aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge and experience in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics. Many courses are offered in our department, from Cell Biology to Microbiology, from Biochemistry to Molecular Genetics. In addition, students can take elective courses according to their interests. In addition to student laboratories, there are Genetics, Immunology, Cancer Biology and Molecular Biology laboratories in our department. The students of our department do their compulsory internship in the summer term of their 3rd year. We can do our internships in hospitals, research laboratories or companies. After graduating from our department, we can work in the diagnosis and treatment centers of genetic diseases, in vitro fertilization centers and in the field of biotechnology, or we can work as an academician at the university. I chose this field because of the rapid development of molecular biology and genetics and my interest in research. I chose our university for the infrastructure it offers to the students in our department. I want to continue my postgraduate education after graduating. I would like to take part in scientific projects that will contribute to our country and science.
