Food Engineering

Hello, I'm Gamze Salman. I am a 4th year student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Food Engineering. The Department of Food Engineering is located in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. Food Engineering aims to train food engineers who have an important role in the processing, storage, transportation and marketing of foods, and in the production and development of new products. The Food Engineering undergraduate program is a 4-year undergraduate program, each of which is worth 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), consisting of 8 semesters and a total of 240 ECTS credits. The must courses we take are on fundamental sciences, engineering and field courses. In addition to these, there are supportive courses such as foreign language, Economics and Computer, which are necessary for skills that one must acquire for this field. Apart from these courses, there are also technical and non-technical elective courses. In our department, we have 8 application and research laboratories with 5 classrooms and adequate equipment. In these field-specific laboratories, necessary infrastructure facilities are used. In our application laboratories, physical, chemical and biological analysis of food can be made and we can also produce food products that we have prepared ourselves. In order to graduate from our department, we have to do an internship for a total of 40 working days. Within the scope of the graduation project, a joint study is designed with our advisor. When we graduate from our department, we can work in food factories, in the food industry, and in many companies as auditors and supervisors. The reason why I chose the department is that I studied in relation to food business in high school and I think this is a fun job. I chose this department to learn about the engineering science. Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Food Engineering has a MÜDEK (Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association) accreditation certificate. This ensures that our diplomas can be valid not only in the country but also abroad. I want to provide engineering consultancy services as an individual entrepreneur after putting the knowledge and experience I have learned from the department into practice in the private sector. Our department and university are adequately equipped in terms of staff and infrastructure. That's why I recommend future candidates to choose our university and department.
