Hello everyone, I'm Merve Öztürk. I am a 3rd year student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology. The Department of Biology was established in 1993 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Our department is located in Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Taşlıçiftlik Campus. Our department was established to train competent students in the field of Biology. Due to the wide field of study of biology, many theoretical courses from Invertebrates to Vertebrate Animals, from Non-Seeded Plants to Seed Plants, from Microbiology to Environmental Biology and Health, from Molecular Biology to Plant and Animal Physiology, and the applications of these theoretical courses are provided in our department. In addition, students choose non-departmental and social courses in the fields they are interested in, as well as departmental elective courses related to biology. In addition to the Botany and Zoology student laboratories, our department has Molecular Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Histology, Parasitology, Entomology, Achorology, Microbiology, Mycology research laboratories and a Herbarium where dried plant samples are kept. There is also a Mushroom Cultivation Facility in our department. There is no obligation to do an internship in our department. Those who want can do it. In our department, graduation theses are prepared during the last 2 semesters of the last year. After graduating from our department, we can work as academicians at universities, in the laboratories of public and private hospitals, in the relevant units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, in stem cell centers, in the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry. The reason why I chose my department is my interest in living things, research and study. My curiosity about the laboratory environment, experimentation and observation is one of the reasons why I chose this department. The reason why I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University was that its academic staff was well-equipped, the university's social activities, various events and extensive opportunities it offered. I want to pursue an academic career by receiving postgraduate education. I would recommend students who will choose our department and university to benefit from the experiences of our department teachers, our laboratory facilities, our university's library and various activities.
