Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

My name is Ebru Akbulut. I am a 3rd year student at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. Our department started accepting undergraduate students in the 2018-2019 academic year. It is in the Taşlıçiftlik Campus. Despite the increase in physiotherapy departments in recent years and hundreds of newly graduated physiotherapists, the need for physiotherapy in our country is increasing. Our department was founded so that patients, especially in our province and our country, can receive treatment on time. Our department was founded in order to increase the quality of life of healthy individuals and to minimize the challenges of disabled individuals. In the first year of our department, basic medical sciences, vocational courses and elective courses are provided to introduce the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. In the 2nd year, Therapeutic Movements, Telepathic Exercises, Manual Therapy, Heat, Light, Water, Electrotherapy and elective courses are given. Neurophysiological Approaches, Neurological Approaches, Orthotics and Rehabilitation, Orthopedic Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy in Women's Health, Physiotherapy in Sports and elective courses, which are mostly part of the curriculum of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, are given in the 3rd year. Clinical applications are offered in the 4th grade. We have 3 classrooms for theoretical courses and 2 laboratories where we can take our application and practical courses. We learn about treatment movements, telepathic exercises, manual therapy, electrotherapy, heat and light courses in our laboratory. There are 240 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) courses as compulsory, elective and compulsory elective offered in our department. In order to graduate, it is necessary to have taken at least 240 credits and to have a minimum average of 2.00 out of 4. In addition, it is necessary to complete summer 1 and summer 2 internships. Summer 1 internship is done during the summer break of the 2nd year, summer 2 internship is done during the summer break of the 3rd year. After graduation, physiotherapists can work in public and private institutions, private educational institutions, nursing homes, gyms, spas, industrial centers, prosthetic production centers. In addition, they can take exams and apply for master's and doctorate degrees and work as academicians. I chose the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department because I aim to help people with health problems and increase the quality of life of people. I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University because of its great academic staff and its fully equipped laboratories. After graduation, I want to work with children with special needs in special education centers. I think that the students who will choose the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department should be friendly, tolerant, responsible people who like to help weak people. I recommend that people who have these characteristics choose this department. I wish success to students who will take the exam. We will be happy to see you among us.
